Country music singer and songwriter Kenny Chesney was born in Knoxville, Tennessee and graduated from Gibbs High School. The year after he graduated, Kenny received his first guitar for Christmas and began teaching himself how to play. In 1989, Kenny recorded a self-released demo album and sold 1,000 copies while performing at local clubs. In April of 1994, Kenny released his debut album, In My Wildest Dreams, which sold approximately 10,000 copies. Overall, Kenny has recorded 15 albums, 14 of which have been certified gold or higher. Kenny has also received six Academy of Country Music awards, as well as six Country Music Association awards. Kenny is one of the most popular acts in country music, regularly selling out venues across the nation.
